Roughly 19% of Ugandans aged five and over live with a disability, and rates run higher in Amuru due to the legacy of armed conflict. People with disabilities face poverty, discrimination, limited education and exclusion from decision-making. With local partner Send a Cow Uganda we form mixed self-help groups where disabled and non-disabled members learn agricultural techniques side by side, share resources and take decisions jointly. The result is food security, multiple income sources, awareness of rights and community-level education on disability inclusion.
